Music choices and explanations
Trey songz- Smart phone-We felt this would be an appropriate music choice for our documentary as it relates to topic area of mobile phones. The lyrics also explain some of the problems that can arise from using a mobile phone in the wrong way. Which fits with one of the purposes of our documentary to inform the audience of some of the dangers of using mobile phones incorrectly. From research into our target audience. this genre of music would appeal to them. so therefore by using this as backing music in our documentary it is drawing them to watch it as they may feel the content will appeal to them as they are exposed to the topic in their everyday lives.
However the song is very slow pace and may not fit well with the footage. So we will have to review our footage first to see where it may be appropriate.
Beyonce- Video phone- Beyonce is a well known influencial artist who the majority of our target audience would of heard of, this makes her a good artist to include as they will recognise the music. The title of the song also relates to our topic making it a good audio to feature over background footage. Unlike smart phone this song is more upbeat so can be used for our faster paced background footage.
Electric Light Orchestra- Telephone Lines-Although this particular song may not be one our target audience has listened to. We felt the start of the song was unique as it featured sounds associated with mobile phones. This could be used for the opening footage of our documentary as we are introducing the purpose of our documentary. this will further show the purpose of the documentary.
Neon trees- Text me in the morning
From listening to this we feel the first 30 seconds would be perfect to play over the opening footage of the different mobile phones. The lyrics also relate to our topic area which makes it an appropriate song choice as it states the problems associated with mobile phones and anti-social. All problems the target audience may come across.
